CPAP and BIPAP

CPAP and BIPAP:

CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) consists of a generator, a hose for connection and a mouthpiece or a mask to be worn by the patient. It keeps the airway open by giving continuous mild air.

BIPAP (bi-level positive airway pressure) it is similar to CPAP but an advantage is that it allows patients to inhale (to breathe in) and exhale (to breather out) at two different pressures which are resultantly more comfortable and the patient becomes more compliant.

What treatment modalities do we offer?

In RT specialist we offer the most common sleep apnea treatment is the administration of continuous positive airway pressure nasally with a fan. It is a mask attached to a turbine that emits air at a certain pressure and prevents obstruction of the upper respiratory tract.

There are different types of ventilators: CPAP and BPAP.

In RT specialist we supply these two modalities always under the indication of the doctor responsible for the prescription. The CPAP emits an invariable and continuous predetermined pressure level that keeps the upper airway open. The BPAP or SYSTEM BINIVEL emits two levels of pressure, inspiratory and expiratory. The system is used to treat central, non-obstructive sleep apnea, and severe or poorly controlled SAHS with CPAP.

In addition, RT specialist markets equipment and accessories for alternative or complementary treatments for sleep apnea. These systems affect the position that the patient adopts at bedtime, and avoid the supine position. The use of this type of accessories must always be controlled and indicated by the prescribing physician
